My Damn Brother
My psychologist brother took issue with my (lack of) current knowledge regarding the effectiveness of current residential treatment for alcohol addiction. He says it’s far more effective than it once was. Good to know. I do realize it was effective in the short term, at least, for BoJack Horseman.
Disclaimer: Do not regard anything I write here as advice on counseling, psychotherapy, or any mental health treatment, whatsoever, or any other advice on how to live your life, any more than you’d take advice on these topics from the vendor of free coffee at highway rest stops (unless the vendor is a licensed mental health professional).
Think of these newsletters as no more than practice for a stand-up comedy routine. I’m not funny you say? Neither is Seinfeld and he’s rich.
Uhm. Yeah. So after my initial pissed off reaction to that piece, I re-read it, like 3 times, and decided I didn't need to spank you. I see that "addiction" is a word... AND people can be shown just how much their thinking creates dependence. Whether it's 12 step programs or WHATEVER, awareness of how our minds work can deeply change behavior. I doubt you'd argue with that.
